Cachaça



Is obtained by distilling sugarcane mash. Brazil’s most popular alcoholic beverage is known by many names: aguardente de cana (sugarcane brandy), branquinha, caninha, pinga, etc. It is the basic ingredient of the caipirinha and of fruit daiquiris, but is also commonly drunk straight. Cachaça boiled with ginger, cinnamon and sugar makes a quentão, a typical drink at the Festas Juninas.
